Sweet, Delectable Basket
Give a variety of sweet, homemade produce as a gift: package up chocolate brownies, a ginger cake, nougat treats and fruit jam in airtight tins, pretty boxes and decorated jars, and arrange them in a decorated, medium-sized basket. Add greenery, twine and ribbon for an extra holiday touch.
Chocolate Brownies
Nothing’s better than hot, fresh, made-from-scratch chocolate brownies. Once packaged in an airtight tin, these irresistible treats will stay fresh and tasty for up to six days. You can also make them in advance, freeze them and leave them to thaw in a tin — there will be no excess moisture and your guests will be greatly impressed by your culinary skills.
Ginger Cake
Don’t stress trying to cook everything the day before delivering your homemade gift basket. It’s suggested that you make this ginger cake recipe at least two or three days before serving (or delivering) it. The moist cake stores better in an airtight tin and will greatly mature in flavor as the days go by.
Christmas Nougat Candy
Try something new this year &151 surprise your friends and family with a batch of fresh nougat treats. These wonderfully sticky, very light and soft sweets are perfect for filling tiny galvanized buckets or fabric candy cones, decorating the Christmas tree, or just for gobbling up.
Homemade Fruit Jam
Enjoy the cold, winter season with a few of your favorite summer necessities, including homemade fruit jam. Just because fresh fruit isn’t in season, that doesn’t mean you can’t make preserves and jams at home. Freeze fresh fruits like raspberries, strawberries and cranberries to make extra quantities of jam during the holidays. Send the finished, packaged product as a gift or include in a fresh gift basket.
