Avocados contain several vitamins, including vitamin E, a super antioxidant that combats free-radical damage. The high fatty content can calm skin redness and irritation and helps with skin-cell regeneration — giving you luscious, moisturized skin. And though you’re not making actual guacamole, lemon is added to this mixture for its natural astringent qualities, which are known to brighten the skin, making brown spots fade.
Another lovely ingredient in this hydrating facial mask is yogurt. I put yogurt in this “guacamask” for its lactic acid — a natural alpha-hydroxy acid that smoothes the skin. Yogurt is also antibacterial and antifungal, making it a great treatment for acne.
The ingredients below will make one skin-loving mask. Be sure to do a patch test prior to using to ensure you have no allergic reaction to the ingredients.
– 1 ripe avocado
– 1 tsp Eastern Shore honey
– 1 tsp lemon juice
– 1 tsp organic sugar-free plain whole milk yogurt
– 1 tsp organic aloe vera juice
– 6 drops lavender essential oil
Split the avocado in half and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Mash with fork into a creamy paste. Mix in the remaining ingredients. Apply to clean skin, avoiding the eyes and lip area. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse clean with cool water and pat dry with a towel.
