Japanese designers keep surprising us with very simple yet cool and functional designs. Ishinomaki Laboratory offers a collection of furniture and accessories with simple lines and a practical bent. Designer Tomoko Azumi’s splay-legged garden stool, which flips over to become a tool carrier, is one of our favorites. Made of red cedar, stackable stools can be flipped upside down to become toolboxes to carry essentials in the garden. The stool is approximately 8 inches high and measures about 16.5 inches in length. Suitable for use outdoors or in, the stool has holes drilled in its legs to make it easy to carry; you may use it as a stool, tray or a storage unit.
