I saw a wreath a few weeks ago made from brown craft paper. Why buy brown paper, when I have brown paper stacked up in my closet in the form of grocery bags? So I put my own spin on it and used a paper bag, a moving box and a bottled water cap to make this wreath. (Oh, yeah, and a little gold spray paint.)
Materials:
- dinner plate (to use as a template)
- smaller plate
- cardboard box or piece of cardboard
- paper bag
- bottle cap or can tab (for hanger)
- glue
- scissors
- paper for leaf template
- spray paint (optional)
Instructions
Use your dinner plate (or other big, circular object) to trace a circle on the cardboard. Make a second, smaller circle inside it, using a smaller plate or other circular object. Then cut out your wreath form.- Draw a leaf shape on a piece of paper. Mine was about 3 inches long. Then trace around it on a paper grocery bag (still folded up) many times, to make a bunch of leaves.
- Cut out your leaves.
Cut right through all the layers of the bag (even on the bottom where there are many layers of paper.) - Fold each leaf in half. Make a strong crease down the center. Then unfold.
- Glue the leaves to your wreath form. Keep them all going the same direction. I didn’t use all the leaves I cut out of one bag. Save
the extras for a second wreath, but fill in as much as you can. - Glue your cap or tab on the back of the wreath to use as a hanger.
- If you choose to do so, spray lightly with gold spray paint.
