Since becoming parents, my husband and I have gotten into the habit of playing games with each other after the little guy has gone to sleep for the night. I thought it would be fun to play dominoes, a game we frequently play at my husband’s parents’ house. We didn’t have any dominoes in our home, so I decided to make some! Making a set was inexpensive and easy and best of all, will be a craft my son will enjoy making and playing with when he’s old enough.
Materials include enough for 28 dominoes, the number in a typical pack.
Materials:
- black felt (or black paint/spray paint if your felt is a different color)
- white 3D Puffy Paint
- scissors
Instructions
- Cut a piece of feltCut a piece of felt into 28 equal pieces. If you don’t have black felt, you can always paint it black.
- Use the white 3D Puffy Paint to paint the dots and lines onto the pieces.
- Let the paint dry for about an hour. When finished, your set should have 28 pieces with 168 dots and should look something like this:
Enjoy playing! If your child is little (but not little enough that they would present a choking hazard), he may find it fun to use the pieces to create patterns. If he’s older, it’s a great way to practice simple addition and subtraction!
