How to Make Secret Messages For Your Sweetie

Materials

Don’t resort to candy hearts this Valentine’s Day, get crafty! Make these secret message Valentines using quirky and customizable sayings like “dang girl” and “someday, let’s be old ladies together.” Open your heart and say what you mean.

Materials:

  • Vellum
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Needle and thread (or sewing machine)
  • Sequins
  • Secret messages (printed or hand written)

Heart Templates

Step 1:

Make a heart template by folding a piece of paper in half and drawing half a heart. Cut it out and use this as a template to trace hearts onto your vellum in pencil. Cut out two vellum hearts for each message you want to share.

Stitch the hearts

Step 2:

Cut 18″ of thread and thread your needle. Line up two vellum hearts. Start hand stitching the two hearts together along the edge — make sure the stitches are close together so the sequins won’t be able to slip through. You can easily use a sewing machine for this step and skip the “labor of love” hand stitching.

Step 3:

When about half of the heart is sewn, insert your secret message and a pinch of sequins.  Sew the rest closed.

Cheeky Phrases

Get creative and write messages that will put a smile on the receivers’ face.

Spread the love

Leave the hearts under a dear one’s pillow, on their desk, or slip it in a bag when no one is watching.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Here’s to spreading the love!
