For extra storage, screw a wooden shelf into the top of the brackets.

Use a simple tree branch, like this length of birch, as a wall-mounted coatrack to bring an organic look to your entryway: Screw two shelf-and-rod brackets into the wall at the desired height. Cut a branch (look for one that’s about two inches in diameter) so it extends beyond the brackets by three inches on each end. Set the branch in the brackets.
